Join me as I explore Puerto Vallarta Farmers Market located in Centro (downtown). El mercado centro – known as Olas Altas Farmers Market is a great place to spend your Saturday mornings to catch the sights and sounds of the Puerto Vallarta community. It has become a very popular attraction for locals, tourists and the snowbirds (people that come to stay here for 6 months to escape winter months from Canada & the United States). The market is a great Saturday morning activity, where you can talk to the locals, meet new people, do some shopping while being entertained with live musicians (local bands). It really is a fun and lively place to be! 🙂

It’s not really a typical farmer’s market (as the name suggests) but more of a cultural market – with locally produced artisan products (jewelry, arts and crafts, clothing, paintings, pottery, etc). The market also has much variety in terms of food products: local produce, baked goods, chocolates, locally produced jams & jellies, cheese, salsas, fresh juices, and a variety of prepared food to choose from: few examples are – East Indian, Argentina, Thai, hummus, fresh pasta, tamales, etc etc.

This market is open every Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm, during the months of November to April (6 months). Get there early as the popular stalls sell out fast!
