ABOUT US
In 2014 I created my Youtube account “Tourist to Local” as a way to document my study abroad adventure in Chile. Over 6 years later, Tourist to Local has turned into a travel community on Youtube that is focused on sharing our favorite travel memories. Along with my husband, Martín from Bitácora de Viajero, we make bilingual videos providing tips and guides to create memorable and unique vacations. Travel is attainable, and our goal is to show you how you can travel too, whether it’s for a weekend or a year!

Puerto Vallarta is back up and running safely. So grateful for the precautions the city is taking to make paradise doable for those of us that have been sitting at home losing our minds!
I have no regrets about this trip to Mexico. So far, so good. Puerto Vallarta is my first stop. I’m not disappointed or worried. Everyone seems to be taking life seriously. Masks, social distancing, hand washing, etc.
Like and Subscribe. Don’t miss out. See for yourself how wonderful Mexico is during this trying times.

ENGLISH
The Matamoros Lighthouse Lookout https://pvmx.net/LighthouseMatamoros (actually a beacon) in downtown Puerto Vallarta, this one is on a hillside overlooking the downtown area, it offers a fabulous view of the city and Banderas Bay (Bahia de Banderas).
The lighthouse was built and inaugurated on August 15, 1932 by the captain of the port Roberto Alcazar. It served as a guiding and orientation beacon for ships along with the beacon (lighthouse) on Galeana Street by the Puerto Vallarta Malecon, until June 1978 when it stopped being used as all ships were by then routed to the main harbor area south of the Marina Vallarta area.
In 2006 it was remodeled, restored and public access from the street was made easier, including stairs, and a viewing terrace was also added.
A great place to take pictures of the city or just enjoy the panoramic view of the city.
How to get to the Matamoros Street Lookout Beacon/Lighthouse (Mirador Faro de Matamoros)
In this video we start off from Zaragoza and Matamoros, behind the parish we will go up Matamoros past Iturbide and Mina street, about 30 meters past the corner you’ll have the stairs to your right that go up to the lighthouse/beacon lookout.

On this video, I will take you around the Romantic Zone/Zona Romantica and into Playa Los Muertos. It was an amazing day, although it got hot and very humid. I had to stop towards the end, and get a beer at OXXO, and from there, I stop at a restaurant on the beach and had couple more beers, as some thing to eat.
If you have found my video’s helpful in some way, and will like to make a Donation for my Travel, Coffe, and Beer Fund.
