Malecon Puerto Vallarta Zona Norte / North Zone of the Malecon in Puerto…
So you want to move to Mexico- should you move to Puerto Vallarta or San Miguel de Allende? Rather, should you move to a city on the coast in Mexico or a city in colonial Mexico? There is obviously much more to Mexico than the coast and central Mexico- but for the sake of this video that is where we will focus our attention.
If you are looking to take a vacation to Mexico we believe that colonial Mexico is a better option. A few cities might include San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Puebla, Querétaro, Cholula, or Morelia, to name a few. Most “Americans” are not very familiar with the colonial side of Mexico and we think it would be extremely beneficial for gringos to see this side of Mexico.
If you are looking to move to Mexico- it really comes down to personal preference. For us, we have more fun outdoors and at the beach. We could sit at the beach for hours every day. We LOVE the plazas in central Mexico, but after about 30 minutes of people watching, we antsy.
However, the major benefit of living in central/colonial cities like San Miguel de Allende is the excellent weather. Towns like Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán, and Puerto Escondido tend to get a little toasty!
We have lived in Querétaro and Puerto Vallarta and although Querétaro is much different from San Miguel de Allende- we believe the beach is the place for us!
What do you think? Which do you prefer- coastal or colonial?
Sorry Ajijic and Chapala. I am not sure where you fit into this one ?

Here is a quick little edit on a vacation Francisco took earlier this year. Following the vacation is a quick little talk on what is to come for our channel. I hope you all enjoy, and as always, we are Still Loading..
First video, sorry for not explaining about how the trip went. Stay tuned for our next video we would tell you all about this trip! Thanks for watching! (:

ENGLISH
Playa Los Muertos (Los Muertos Beach) is one of the most popular beaches, or perhaps, the most popular and visited beach in Puerto Vallarta Jalisco Mexico.
It is located south of the Malecón and the Cuale river, in the so-called Romantic Zone or Old Vallarta. Between the Cuale river and Venustiano Carranza street (where Daiquiri Dick’s is located) the beach is called Olas Altas and south of Venustiano Carranza street to the south it is called Los Muertos Beach (Deadman’s Beach, or Beach of The Dead, we’ll talk about the sinister name a bit further down).
It is an excellent place to relax, walk, eat or have a beer and enjoy the famous Vallarta sunsets.
There is also a relatively new pier and the location’s now a place that mixes a lot of old and new, traditional and modern, it is very active and very Mexican too.
The name, I must admit, is incredibly ugly, in fact, the city officials have tried several times to change it, Playa del Sol (Sun Beach), being one of the proposals, but the new ones have never stuck and people continue to use the traditional name.
The most accepted version of why this beautiful beach has this horrible name, apparently the most correct and that has most support in documents and expert experience, is that the beach was a sacred cemetery of the local Indians, a pantheon. The local residents noticed it when they began to unearth bones in ceramic containers, a custom of the local tribes when they buried their dead. This explanation is also validated by the archaeologist Dr. Joseph Mounjoy.
All this is quite interesting, but, despite the unattractive name, Playa de Los Muertos is one of the main Things to do in Puerto Vallarta Romantic Zone (Old Vallarta), a beach full of people compared to the rest of the beaches of Vallarta and even the whole of Bahia de Banderas, but If you like to people-watching, if you’re sociable, and don’t feel uncomfortable among people, you’ll have a great time: vendors, various activities, shrimp and grilled fish, beer, parasailing, just swimming (the waves are not big), or playing in the sand with your children, there is so much you’ll enjoy.
There are also restaurants, bars and cafes, in the evening you can enjoy a romantic gourmet dinner on the beach and enjoy one of the famous Puerto Vallarta sunsets, and now even with the impressive and colorful Playa de Los Muertos Pier, a perfect photo opportunity and souvenir for all your indelible memories of PV.
Los Muertos Beach is definitely not one for those looking to relax and get away from it all, but if you want action, sun, sand, food and lots to do, this one of the Vallarta Beaches is the heart of everything in Old Vallarta.

We stayed in a lovely house at the top of a hill in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It’s about 20-30 minutes walking distance from all the popular restaurants along the malecon and in Old Vallarta. Plus, our host was the sweetest and most hospitable of anyone we’ve stayed with in Airbnb. This is a tour of our room in her beautiful home.
This is the Airbnb listing for the rental in this video: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/22765924
