In 1948 Puerto Vallarta was known as "Puerto Las Peñas". It was a quiet Pueblo with a small population. In 1948 Mr. Salvador Gonzalez, built the first Hotel in Puerto Vallarta the Hotel Rosita. A ten minute walk will lead you to the main church and Puerto Vallarta's market place. Hotel Rosita is considered the most traditional hotel in Puerto Vallarta and considered a jewel due to its typical mexican architecture. In 1962 John Houston, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Eva Gardner and their filming crew ("Night of the Iguana") stayed at the Hotel Rosita. It offers the ambience and hospitality of how life was once enjoyed in Puerto Vallarta.
