DISCLAMER Information provided in the video is my opinion and experience only. Please ensure to do your own research and due diligence when travelling in foreign countries.
If you have travelled to Vallarta before you know that lifestyle here is slow paced and easy going, one of the reasons why so many of us decide to come here is to get away from the hustle mentality and the race for material things.
This is a beautiful thing and something to look forward to, however when you first “expat” or “immigrate” to PV and need to get all your ducks in a row, such as register your residency visa, that you have received back home, the slow workings of the system may not be a pleasant experience.
I recommend researching the documents needed, how to fill them out properly in Spanish, and setting an appointment early to ensure a smooth visa registration process.
The next important thing to prepare for is RFC and understanding when and why you may need one. RFC is an equivalent to Social Security Number in the USA or Social Insurance Number in Canada.
There has been a lot of misleading information about the RFC for expats.
A few months ago, the info started to circulate about all expats needing this number in order to buy a property, open a bank account etc.
While this information wasn’t completely correct, and at the moment not everyone needs an RFC, it is something that requires special attention and an action plan for those who are buying a property or conducting any sort of a business including Airbnb in Puerto Vallarta.
And last thing I mention in this video is opening a bank account in Vallarta.
There are many different banks in the area.
Some require more documents than others in order to open an account, but over all the process of fairly straight forward.
