We stayed in #401 from May 5-12, 2013. It was our first time at Plaza Mar & what a fabulous experience it was! Location Location Location! We’ve been coming to Puerto Vallarta 2x yr for 15yrs & have stayed at various hotels in town & in Nuevo Vallarta, always w/full ocean views. This room was so close to the beach, we could’ve thrown a rock off our balcony and hit the ocean. It’s also in the heart of so many good restaurants. If cleanliness is truly next to Godliness, this place could be a church. The staff is friendly, helpful, & quick to respond. Gorgeous room decorated in up-scale traditional Mexican décor. Well equipped modern kitchen w/granite countertops. Spacious bedroom & comfortable bed…couches were comfortable for snoozes too. Large shower w/good water pressure and…a ceiling fan in the bathroom which I’ve never seen before, but it helped to dry off faster, haha! Our most favorite feature of the room: Being able to leave the balcony door open AND the front door open at the same time. The cross breezes were heavenly & we didn’t need to turn on A/C hardly at all. Can’t do that in most hotels but could here because the front door had a wrought iron secure locking door as a screen door. It was so wonderful to be able to leave the doors open & continuously hear the ocean & feel the breeze. In most hotel rooms, if you leave the balcony door open, the A/C shuts off & you certainly can’t leave the front door open to create a cross breeze. The Wi-Fi suddenly stopped working in our room, we called the front desk & in less than 5mins. a maintenance guy came up, called the cable co. & reset it. There’s an OXXO convenience store next door where you can get your coffee, soda, etc. @ reasonable prices. Serranos restaurant is a couple steps outside the lobby w/delicious breakfast, lunches, dinner, & a most friendly accommodating staff. Serranos also prepares meals & snacks to take up to the room & if what you want is not on the menu, just ask. The rooftop pool is serene & has magnificent views…AND a full size fridge/freezer for your drinks/food. Rooftop laundry room, indoor lounge w/several tables for playing cards etc. is nice too! A walker’s paradise is right outside the door whether on the beach or on the wide lengthy malacon…adjacent & paralleling the beach. Other great restaurants w/in a couple blocks: Freddys Toucan, The Pancake House for breakfast. Café de Olla, b/l/d…order the mex combination platter for L or D. Great seafood there too. A couple blocks north on the malacon is Sea Monkey…$1 beers & drinks…never tried their food, but a great place to relax in the shade for good cheap refreshments. There’s a good coffee house next door for latte’s/homemade desserts..next door to that is a sports bar, & next door to that is an ice-cream shop! Again…LOCATION! The only one complaint we had about room 401 is: the A/C unit in the living room is very high on the wall. My tallish husband had to put a balcony chair next to the end table & climb on both in order to turn on/off A/C. It wasn’t a problem for us, but it would be a concern for older people. However, the lobby desk would certainly send someone up to do that, but it’d be inconvenient @2am. The A/C unit in the bedroom was reachable & GREAT! We’ll stay here again and again…just wish we would’ve BOUGHT a unit here years ago!
