location, location, location! Plaza Mar 501

First time staying in Old Town and loved it!
PROS: location! This building’s biggest asset is its’ location. Unit 501 has an excellent view of the bay and of the malecon for great people watching. Steps from many restaurants. Spacious rooms: The unit itself is spacious with plenty of room to move around. Kitchen large and has everything you’ll need. Huge master bedroom, again, with plenty of storage.
Excellent wifi & tv: Since I needed to check into work, reliable wifi is a must for me and this unit worked very well. Never any connection problems. Also, had better tv than most hotels.
Nice rooftop area: Although small, nice upstairs area. Laundry, bbq grill and fridge up there is nice. Little room to play cards or read is a charming area as well. While I believe it’s a lot of elderly snowbirds that live there and return annually – if there is a lot of “tourists”, the pool area is very small. There was only 2 families as guests while we were there, but when they came to the pool area, they pretty much take over the pool and chairs.
Great cross breezes: Being a corner unit, you can open the balcony doors and the front door and a lovely breeze flows through all the time. It is nice that this unit is on the corner, as every other unit has guests passing by and able to see directly in your bedroom and kitchen, as well as all the way though your unit. Unit 501 has a bit more privacy as it’s on the end. No foot traffic directly in front of the unit.
CONS: A couple of eldery ladies put towels down on 2 prime chairs with an umbrella, and never showed up all day. A couple days later,they had 2 loungers & again one of only two umbrellas, left after an hour and left their stuff there, and were gone for 2 hours in the prime of the day. I felt bad for people that came up and couldn’t get shade nor loungers. They had to sit at a patio table chair. Not Plaza Mars problem, just rude guests which can happen anywhere. I note this for the sun lovers that expect resort type pools.
Overall, a great, spacious condo that we’d rent again in a heartbeat. My wife has had her eye on this place for years, and we finally got in. We now see why it’s so hard to get in – once you visit, you rebook year after year. Plus, we chatted with a couple of snowbirds, and they reaffirmed that it’s been a lot of the same people coming there for years. Good for them! We thank you for the opportunity to vacation in old town. We hope to be back!
